When We Die

First, as Jeh-Sea Wells, a demo song in September 2013, then another completely rewritten acoustic version, on When We Die in December 2013. The song follows the same theme of searching for peace and questioning if we find peace with death, but the lyrics and even the music are much different. Since the title and theme are so similar, we’re listing it as one song here, but it could very well be two distinct songs.

Then, in November 2014, the (second version of the) song was released with Dead Indian on When We Live.

Lyrics

I've seen all the signs, and what they say
You fuck all night, and sleep all day
And I read all the books they told me to, its true
I read all the books they told me to

Is there no peace for us?
Is there no peace for our minds?
Is there no peace for us?
Is there no peace when we die?

I've been all around this god damn world
Shook hands with the boys, and fucked the girls
And I read all the books they told me to
And I read all the books they told me to, its true

Is there no peace for us?
Is there no peace for our minds?
Yeah, oh
Is there no peace for us?
Is there no peace when we die?

Just... wanna get out sometimes

___

Your life, you lead it bleakly
Spreads through days and nights and days
It meanders down it's path until
Your senses start to fade
And the lies we're told when we were young
Break down and blow again
Until nothing more is black and white
In fact, it's very grey

And then we remember being young
How did it get undone?
You're sprawling, searching for the answers
Life can be lost, but it can't be won
It can't be won

And if it's peace we find it dying
Spirit, let the time be near
I'm not scared of myths and legends
If heaven's calling I can't hear
But all things are truly weary and it pains to even say
Nothing new beneath the sky
All things just die and pass away

All is strange- it's too much for the mind
We'll keep spinning in the sky
Fill your senses, live it hard now
Like you're running out of time
Running out of time

All is strange- it's too much for the mind
Wheel keep spinning in the sky
Fill your senses, live it hard now
Like you're running out of time
Running out of time
