Annotations and Notes on Lyrics

Roger Fortson, a senior airman, was fatally shot 5 times by Okaloosa County deputy Eddie Duran. A domestic disturbance was filed, and a woman told officers that she had heard yelling at apartment 1401, 2 weeks before the shooting. Fortson was holding a gun in body cam footage, which he was pointing toward the ground. However, he was under the impression that the officer was a home invader, as alleged by his girlfriend, with whom he was on the phone. At the time of the song being released, the shooter was not identified and put on paid administrative leave. Fortunately, he was later identified, fired, and charged with manslaughter.

Fallujah is a city that was ransacked by the American government in Iraq. In early 2003, protestors took to the streets to oppose the American soldiers taking over a school in the city. The US military claims they were shot at. Locals of the city claim they were shot at first, and they lack a military presence, but reported 17 killed and 70 wounded. No American casualties were reported.
