Information we collect

Information you give us

  • If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address (if provided), and comment text you submit. We use this to display your comment and, if needed, to respond or moderate.
  • If you contact us by email or another channel linked from the site, we use that contact only to reply. We don’t add you to a mailing list unless you explicitly sign up for one.

Information collected automatically

  • Cookies: The site uses cookies to make the site work (e.g. keeping you logged in if you have an account, remembering preferences). WordPress and any plugins we use may set cookies for security, comments, or functionality. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites for advertising unless we clearly say so (e.g. if we enable advertising and disclose it here).
  • Server logs: Our host records basic technical data (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of access). We use this for security, troubleshooting, and understanding how the site is used in aggregate. We don’t use it to identify you personally unless required by law or to address abuse.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Run and improve the site.
  • Show and moderate comments.
  • Respond to contact or support requests.
  • Understand usage in aggregate (e.g. popular pages) and fix problems.
  • Comply with legal obligations or enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles for sale to third parties.

Third parties

Links to other sites

The site links to streaming services (e.g. Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music), ticket sellers, Amazon, and other external sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

Amazon Associates

We participate in the Amazon Associates program. Some links to Amazon (e.g. for music or gear) include an affiliate identifier so we may earn a small commission if you make a qualifying purchase. Amazon may set cookies and use data in line with its own privacy notice. We only link to products we genuinely recommend.

Advertising (if enabled)

We may in the future use advertising (e.g. Google AdSense via SiteKit). If we do, we will update this policy to describe what we use and how you can control ad personalization. Currently we are focused on building the site and audience; any future ads will be disclosed here.

Social sharing (our accounts)

We may post our own content (e.g. new songs, show setlists, daily lyric) to our social accounts (Mastodon, Bluesky, Pinterest) from the site. That process runs on our servers and does not involve sending visitor data to those platforms. If you follow us on those platforms, their privacy policies apply to your use of them.

Hosting and tools

The site is hosted and may use standard WordPress or third‑party tools (e.g. for backups, security, or performance). Those providers process data only to provide the service to us and in line with their policies and our instructions.

Your choices

  • Comments: You can choose not to leave comments. If you have left a comment and want it removed, contact us and we’ll remove it where practicable.
  • Cookies: You can set your browser to block or delete cookies. Some site features (e.g. staying logged in) may not work if you block cookies.
  • Do Not Track: We don’t currently respond to Do Not Track signals; we don’t track you across other sites for ads. If that changes, we’ll say so here.

How long we keep data

  • Comments: We keep comment data as long as the post exists or until we remove the comment.
  • Server logs: Typically a limited period (e.g. a few months) unless we need them longer for security or legal reasons.
  • Contact: We keep contact correspondence as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period after for record-keeping.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold (e.g. keeping software updated, using secure hosting). No website can guarantee complete security; we will notify you if we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data where required by law.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

International visitors

The site is operated from the United States. If you are visiting from elsewhere, your data may be processed in the U.S. or other countries. By using the site, you consent to that transfer and processing in line with this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the current version on this page and, for material changes, we’ll note the date of the last update at the bottom. Your continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy or your data, you can contact us through the contact method provided on the site (e.g. the contact page).
